Even for experienced moms and dads, being a parent can be a challenge. That’s why, since 1987, the Parenting Center at St. Tammany Health System has been providing local parents and children the tools they need to grow together as a family.
Through an array of programs – from parenting and babysitting classes to playdates and a variety of socialization events such as our Monster Mash fall celebration – the Parenting Center is dedicated to promoting confidence and competence in parents, encourage optimal development for their children, and enhance the well-being of local families as a whole.
Whether a parent has specific issues they’re struggling with or they merely want to build on their parenting skills while developing positive self-esteem in their children, the Parenting Center is dedicated to meeting the needs of children and parents of all types.
Membership is $180 per family per year or $15 per family monthly. Free membership for St. Tammany Health System employees and first time parents for the babies first year. We understand that this may be a burden on some families’ budget; so scholarships are available with funds from our St. Tammany Hospital Foundation. Please do not hesitate to ask. I assure you this is confidential. Please inquire with staff or you can email parentingcenter@stph.org.
Note: The Parenting Center is not a day care or drop-off program; most of our activities are interactive opportunities for parents with their children. It is not affiliated with planned pregnancy organizations, and nor does it scrutinize anyone’s parenting skills.
From check-in to snack time, join us for a typical day at the St. Tammany Parenting Center.
Whether you’ve got a question to ask or an appointment to keep, getting in touch with us is a cinch. Here’s everything you need to know:

St. Tammany Health System has created visual supports in the form of “what to expect ” stories and videos to assist autistic individuals/individuals with autism who might find entering the hospital or clinic unsettling and unfamiliar.
Our visual supports, if needed, aim to prepare the autistic individual/individual with autism on what to expect in face-to-face interactions and provide possible choices on what to do when overstimulated while visiting our health care system. Click the link to learn more.
