Meet the faculty

A look at the Family Medical Residency team:

 

Lisa Casey, MD

Lisa Casey, MD

Ochsner/STHS Family Medicine Residency Program Director

 

Dr. Lisa Casey, a New Orleans native, graduated from LSU New Orleans in 2005 and completed her Family Medicine residency at East Jefferson General Hospital in 2008. She served there as faculty until 2014 and as Program Director until 2021 when she returned to clinical practice. Dr. Casey is board-certified in Family Medicine and Obesity Medicine and serves as a board member on the Louisiana Academy of Family Physicians (LAFP), the Medical Association of Southeast Louisiana (MASELA), and Jefferson Parish Medical Society (JPMS). Her professional interests include obesity, resident education, and legislative advocacy. In her free time, Dr. Casey enjoys spending time with her two children, traveling, reading murder mysteries and playing board games.



Dr. Christopher Foret

Christopher Foret, MD

 

A native and resident of Franklinton Louisiana, Dr. Christopher Foret graduated from both Louisiana State University and LSU School of Medicine, respectively. He completed his residency in Family Medicine at Palmetto Richland Medical System in Columbia, South Carolina. He has over twenty years of practice experience in rural communities. He is a former president of the Louisiana Academy of Family Physicians and the chairman of the Louisiana Patients Compensation Fund Oversight Board. On a national level, Dr. Foret is a 2022 AAFP Leading Physician Wellness Scholar. His medical interests include population health, physician burnout, and diabetes. Outside of medicine, Dr. Foret enjoys exercising, traveling, and LSU football. He enjoys time with his family, in which he is one of six physicians, his daughter being the newest. Connecting with friends, whether remote or in-person, is very important to him as well. .



Dr. Patrick O'Callaghan

Patrick O'Callaghan, PHD, MSCP

 

Dr. Patrick O’Callaghan is a licensed clinical and prescribing psychologist. He obtained his Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from LSU in 2005 and completed his fellowship at the Munroe Meyer Institute for Genetics and Rehabilitation at the University of Nebraska Medical Center. Additionally, he earned a post-doctoral Master of Science in Clinical Psychopharmacology from Fairleigh Dickinson University. Dr. O’Callaghan is passionate about integrating neuroscience and lifestyle medicine. Since 2012, he has been sharing his knowledge of behavioral health and related topics with Family Medicine residents, and he is available for daily consultations.



Dr. Catherine Pechon

Catherine Pechon, MD

 

Dr. Pechon joined St. Tammany Health system in July 2020. She earned her undergraduate degree from Tulane University and medical degree from Texas A&M College of Medicine. Dr. Pechon completed her family medicine residency at Duke-Southern Regional AHEC in Fayetteville, N.C., where she was appointed chief resident. She is board certified in family medicine and provides evidence-based patient-oriented care for children and adults. Her interests include preventative healthcare and wellness, women's health and weight management.



Dr. Gabrielle Givens

Gabrielle Givens, MD

 

Dr. Gabrielle Givens joined St. Tammany Health System in 2020. She was born and raised in Franklinton, Louisiana and attended Bowling Green School. She earned her undergraduate degree from William Carey University and received her medical degree from the University of Medicine and Health Sciences, St. Kitts in 2017. In 2020 Dr. Givens completed her family medicine residency with Louisiana State University in Bogalusa, L.A. She is board certified in family medicine and member of both the AAFP and Louisiana Academy of Family Physicians. Her professional interests include preventative care and obesity medicine. Dr. Givens also loves to read, play with her dog – an American Eskimo named Koda – and listen to her vinyl record collection.



Dr. Eleanor Smith

Eleanor Smith, MD

 

Dr. Eleanor Smith, a native of Lafayette, Louisiana, pursued her undergraduate education at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette before earning her medical degree from Louisiana State University in Shreveport. She completed her residency at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, where she served as chief resident in her third year. She was recognized as Best Off-Service Intern by the Emergency Department in her first year and later as Outstanding Resident in her third year. Dr. Smith is board certified in Family Medicine and is passionate about lifestyle medicine, preventive care, and women’s health. Dr. Smith is a member of AAFP, LAFP, ACLM, and STFM. Outside of her professional life, she enjoys staying active (does not discriminate on how but loves running, biking, and soccer), photography, traveling and exploring all that the Northshore has to offer with her husband. She also loves spending time with her family, who are spread throughout Louisiana.
