Parish President Brister joins STPH Board

ST. TAMMANY PARISH HOSPITAL BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS
WELCOMES PARISH PRESIDENT PAT BRISTER

COVINGTON – St. Tammany Parish Hospital Service District No. 1 Board of Commissioners welcomes Parish President Pat Brister as its newest member, after the loss of long-time board member Pizzie Romano, who passed away in Dec. 2018.

“We are pleased to welcome President Brister to our Board of Commissioners,” said Chairman John Evans. “We look forward to having her perspective as our parish’s leader on the governance board of our community hospital.”

Brister has been a public servant for many years. She served eight years on the Parish Council; as well as her time with the St. Tammany Children's Advocacy Center; the Commission on Families; Habitat for Humanity East and West Chapters; Head of Delegation to the UN Commission on the Status of Women; and many more. But her most rewarding is as St. Tammany Parish President, a role she’s served in since 2012.

In her capacity as Parish President, Brister champions inherent strengths of the Parish and brings its future vision to fruition through sound roads and drainage, water quality, utilities infrastructure, and her behavioral health initiative — Safe Haven. She has secured nearly $120 million dollars in grant funding for programs and projects since her tenure began in 2012, most recently $25 million in federal dollars to spearhead the widening of Interstate 12 near Covington. She is leading our Parish as we continue to experience population and economic growth, with an educated and ready workforce and a focus on an exceptional quality of life.
