COVID-19 Statement from STHS

STATEMENT– March 13, 2020 | 9 AM

COVID-19 Statement from St. Tammany Health System

“Today the Louisiana Office of Public Health (OPH) has confirmed a patient with COVID-19 at St. Tammany Health System.

Our health system adjusted our infection prevention protocols as the COVID-19 corona virus spread rose in the U.S., appropriately triaging patients meeting criteria for Coronavirus testing.

Once we established this case had the potential to be COVID-19, we followed the appropriate isolation and protective measures outlined by the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) as well as their guidelines for hospital personnel and visitors.

We then notified OPH who provided guidance and administered the test.

We delivered care to the patient in a way that protects the health of our patients and caregivers. The health and well-being of our patients and staff remains our top priority. We want to thank our care teams for their preparation while acting immediately and appropriately.

We would also like to reassure our community that we remain open and prepared to care for your healthcare needs. If you have questions about scheduled appointments or procedures, please contact your provider.

In compliance with federal patient privacy regulations and out of respect for patients and their families, we are unable to make any further comments regarding the patient’s condition.”
