Vizient Southern States has recognized St. Tammany Health System with a 2021 Brilliance Award in recognition of an innovative patient navigation initiative designed to reduce avoidable admissions and readmissions through the Emergency Department.
STHS is one of four organizations – fewer than a third of those that applied – to receive the award, announced at Vizient’s national Connections Summit in Las Vegas, according to Vizient Southern States President and CEO Bill Senneff.
Senneff presented the award at the health system’s Covington hospital on Thursday (March 31, 2022) to Director of Emergency Services Bradley Leonhard and Director of Care Coordination Angela Gottschalk. Not present but part of the award-winning team was Assistant Vice President of Care Coordination Julie Nevers.
Also accepting on the health system’s behalf was STHS President and CEO Joan Coffman, who said the award was reflective of the spirit of innovation and collaboration to be found throughout the health system’s ranks.
“I continue to be amazed by the caliber of talent here at St. Tammany Health System, always pursuing organizational excellence and always putting patient experience first,” Coffman said.
Vizient Southern States, an alliance of not-for-profit healthcare providers, bestows its Brilliance Awards annually to member hospitals that demonstrate improvements in a given area. For 2021, that area was commitment to quality patient care, patient safety and performance improvement.
