COVINGTON – St. Tammany Health System’s flagship St. Tammany Parish Hospital has been named to Newsweek’s inaugural listing of America’s Best Cancer Hospitals. It is the highest-ranking Louisiana hospital on the list.
“Since its founding 70 years ago, St. Tammany Health System has been defined by a commitment to excellence and innovation, and this award stands testament to that,” STHS President and CEO Joan Coffman said. “I couldn’t be more excited by this recognition, and I couldn’t be more grateful to all of our colleagues and partners who helped make this happen.”
According to Newsweek, the America’s Best Cancer Hospitals 2023 program was founded to recognize hospitals that provide “benchmark-leading care and excellent services for cancer patients.”
In addition to the cancer services at its main campus in Covington, St. Tammany Health System offers comprehensive breast care through its nationally accredited Women’s Pavilion; and a full suite of integrative oncology services, including a robust clinical trial program, at St. Tammany Cancer Center – A Campus of Ochsner Medical Center.
In June, St. Tammany Health System’s longtime strategic partner Ochsner Health announced a partnership with MD Anderson Cancer Center to create Ochsner MD Anderson Cancer Center in southeastern Louisiana. The fully integrated cancer program includes St. Tammany Cancer Center, which has been operated jointly by St. Tammany Health System and Ochsner since 2021.
Released in late June and covering calendar year 2023, the Newsweek list was formulated in partnership with the Germany-based Statista based on an analysis of data from three sources: a nationwide online survey, hospital quality metrics and patient experience.
