City Business Best Places to Work 2022

COVINGTON – St. Tammany Health System has been named one of New Orleans CityBusiness’ Best Places to Work in New Orleans for 2022.

This annual program was created by New Orleans CityBusiness and Best Companies Group to identify, recognize and honor the best employers in the New Orleans metro area, benefiting the area's economy, workforce and business climate.

“This recognition is no accident,” said St. Tammany Health System President and CEO Joan Coffman, FACHE. “Rather, it is the result of a concerted effort by health system leadership to build a workplace culture centered on compassion and collegiality.

“We’ve worked hard over the past several years to establish what we call a ‘Culture of Caring’ at St. Tammany Health System,” Coffman added. “That, of course, starts with the peerless care we provide to our patients, but we have also been mindful and deliberate about making sure it extends to our talented  colleagues at every level of the health system, who are far and away our most valuable – and most valued – assets.”

The timing of the award, which comes after what has been characterized as the most difficult 2½ years in the modern history of the American healthcare industry, makes it particularly meaningful, Coffman said.

“This award is gratifying beyond words,” Coffman said. “We’re a ‘best workplace’ because we have the best workforce, period, full-stop. Our colleagues have proven that every day of our COVID-19 journey.”

St. Tammany Health System, founded in 1954 as St. Tammany Parish Hospital,  employs nearly 2,700 people, making it the second-largest employer in St. Tammany Parish.

To be considered for the Best Workplaces recognition, companies had to have a facility in the New Orleans area, have at least ten employees working in the eligible areas, and be in business a minimum of one year.

Companies from across New Orleans entered the two-part survey process to determine the Best Places to Work in New Orleans. The first part consisted of evaluating each nominated company's workplace policies, practices, philosophy, systems and demographics. This part of the process was worth approximately 25% of the total evaluation.

The second part consisted of an employee survey to measure the employee experience. This part of the process was worth approximately 75% of the total evaluation. The combined scores determined the top companies and the final rankings. Best Companies Group managed the overall registration and survey process, analyzed the data and determined the final rankings.

Companies will be recognized in the Dec. 16, 2022, issue of New Orleans CityBusiness.
