COVINGTON – For the third year running, St. Tammany Health System has been named one of New Orleans CityBusiness’ Best Places to Work in the New Orleans metro area.

As in 2022 and 2023, the health system was recognized for 2024 in the largest of the three sized-based categories, reserved for organizations with 250 employees or more.

St. Tammany Health System, founded in 1954 as St. Tammany Parish Hospital, employs more than 3,000 people, making it the second-largest employer in St. Tammany Parish.

“What an extraordinary honor, and what an extraordinary accomplishment for our dedicated team of compassionate caregivers here at St. Tammany Health System,” STHS President and CEO Joan Coffman said. “This recognition speaks volumes about the Culture of Caring we have worked so hard to foster, and not just with regard to our patients but also where our workforce is concerned.

“Their embodiment of our organizational values of teamwork, trust, compassion, quality and innovation makes our organization stronger, which in turn makes our community healthier. That is a gift, and one for which I am enormously grateful.”

The annual Best Workplaces program was created by New Orleans CityBusiness and Best Companies Group to identify, recognize and honor the best employers in the New Orleans metro area, benefiting the area's economy, workforce and business climate.

To be considered for the recognition, companies had to have a facility in the New Orleans area, have at least 15 employees working in the New Orleans area, and be in business a minimum of one year.

Participating companies must submit nomination forms disclosing workforce data such as salaries, benefits, retention levels and employee advancement. The next part of the process involves an anonymous survey of company employees to measure workplace culture.

These data points are compiled into a final rank to determine the winners.

This year, 54 companies were recognized across all three size categories. They will be recognized in the Dec. 13, 2024, issue of New Orleans CityBusiness.
