Last week’s rare South Louisiana snowfall was one for the record books, but the resulting multi-day, region-wide shutdown also disrupted local blood supplies. That has prompted the Blood Center to issue an appeal for donors.
To that end, St. Tammany Health System is hosting a blood drive today (Monday, Jan. 27, 2025) at the Cordes Outpatient Pavilion in Covington from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
As always, walk-ins are welcome, although appointments are preferred and can be made at the Blood Center website.
All successful donors will receive a Blood Center hooded sun shirt.
All donors are reminded to have a full meal before donating and to bring their picture ID.
· Donors must be at least 17 years old (16 with parental consent) and present a photo ID.
· The donation process takes less than an hour.
· Every three seconds, someone needs blood.
· Individuals can donate blood every 56 days.
