9-year-old Folsom boy’s generosity highlighted this week in ‘From the Heart’

By STHS Communication Department

As difficult as our shared fight with COVID-19 has been at times, we make it a point to look every day for those regular reminders of what a kind, compassionate community we live in.

Recently, it was Brody C. who reminded us. A 9-year-old resident of Folsom, he decided to start his own fundraising campaign to help in the fight against COVID-19, so he put a shoebox in his driveway with a sign soliciting donations. Every day, he checked the box – and every day the people of Folsom had left money in it.

On Tuesday, Brody donated the $166 he collected to the St. Tammany Hospital Foundation. And while that might not seem like a lot to some people, Brody’s donation – and what it represents – is invaluable to us at St. Tammany Health System.

That’s why we highlighted his story in this week’s “From the Heart,” our free community newsletter filled with updates and news you can use from St. Tammany Health System.

You can find our latest edition and links to past editions at STPH.org/STHSnewsletter. From that same page, you can also sign up to have future editions of “From the Heart” sent for free directly to your email inbox.

Other stories included in this week’s edition include:

  • A profile of Wesley Doyle, the veteran law enforcement officer who found himself fighting for his life in STHS’s intensive care unit after contracting COVID-19.
  • Details about St. Tammany Health System’s COVID-19 antibody testing program, which is now up and running.
  • A from-the-archives look at the day 67 years ago this month that ground was broken for STHS’s Covington hospital.
  • Details on STHS’s upcoming blood drive.
  • A story about contract tracing and how it works as a method of curbing the spread of infectious diseases like COVID-19.
