Black Hawk flyover to include STHS campus in Covington

A quartet of Black Hawk helicopters will buzz St. Tammany Health System in Covington around 11:10 a.m. on Wednesday (July 1) as part of a coordinated flyover of hospitals by the Louisiana Army National Guard. The display is intended to honor healthcare professionals and first responders working on the front lines of the state’s COVID fight.

Other Louisiana hospitals on the flight itinerary are Slidell Memorial Hospital, North Oaks Medical Center in Hammond, Lafayette General Medical Center, Lake Charles Memorial Hospital, Christus St. Francis Cabrini Hospital in Alexandria, St. Francis Medical Center in Monroe and Ochsner LSU Health in Shreveport. The flyover is being conducted by the Louisiana Army National Guard’s State Aviation Command.

It’s the latest in a series of military displays of support for frontline COVID workers. On May 1, the Louisiana Air National Guard saluted local healthcare workers with a flyover of St. Tammany Health System’s main Covington campus by two F-15 Strike Eagles.

That was followed about a week later by a flyover of local health facilities by the U.S. Navy’s Blue Angels flight demonstration squadron.
