Four UH-60 Black Hawk helicopters from the Louisiana Army National Guard took to the skies over St. Tammany Health System’s main Covington campus on Wednesday (July 1) to express gratitude to front-line healthcare workers.
The display, which was repeated at several hospitals throughout the state, was intended as a show of support for healthcare workers and first responders working on the front lines of the COVID-19 crisis.
Members of the staff at the Covington hospital were joined by news teams from New Orleans TV stations WDSU-Ch. 6 and WVUE-Fox 8 in the facility's main parking lot on South Tyler Street to view the display. Others watched from windows in the hospital's upper floors.
It was the second recent flyover at the hospital. On May 1, two Louisiana Air National Guard F-15 Strike Eagle fighter jets buzzed the hospital in a similar show of support.
