STHS to host blood drive this Friday (Sept. 25)

To help ease blood shortages amid the COVID-19 pandemic, St. Tammany Health System is teaming with The Blood Center for a blood drive this coming Friday (Sept. 25).

The drive will take place from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. outside the Medical Office Building at 1203 S. Tyler St. in Covington, right across the street from the St. Tammany Parish Hospital main campus.

All donors who successfully give blood will receive a free “Dat Blood Donor” face mask and T-shirt. Additionally, all donors’ blood will be screened for COVID-19 antibodies, the presence of which indicates a previous COVID infection.

Walk-in donors are welcome, but to facilitate social distancing, it is recommended that prospective donors schedule an appointment before arriving. Appointments can be scheduled here.
