With the presence of COVID-19 continuing to cause concern in our community and around the world, St. Tammany Health System has revised its visitor policy. Please see below for the latest policy details, effective Sept. 28, 2020.

St. Tammany Health System Visitor Policy Information

To protect the health of our communities, and as a safety precaution to prevent the risk of spreading COVID-19, we continue to maintain visitor restrictions in accordance with recommendations from the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

• Visitation is limited to one person per patient per day.
• Visitors must be 18 years or older.
• Visitors must be free of fever and symptoms to be admitted to any STHS facility.
• Visitors must adhere to all policies including social distancing, mask-wearing and hand-washing.
• Visitors must arrive in and wear a face covering for the entire duration of the visit.
• Visitors must stay in the procedure waiting area or in the patient room, masked at all times.
• Visitors are asked not to gather in common/public areas.
• Visitors are encouraged to order in-room dining (for a small fee); however, food may be purchased in the cafeteria or PJs Coffee Shop.
• Visitors are permitted on isolation units only under the following special circumstances:
  • COVID-19 positive: 15-minute visitation in the hallway, exterior to the patient’s room (max of 2); coordination required with nursing.
  • COVID-19 end-of-life: Follows guidelines and care planning not included in this document; nursing personnel will coordinate on a case-by-case basis.
• Other special circumstances:
  
  • Laboring patient: Two support persons (including doula) while in labor and during delivery; following delivery (post-partum), one spouse/visitor only.
  • Minor children (under the age of 18): ED/procedures/surgery/inpatient stay(NICU/ PICU/ peds) both parents/visitors (max of two).
  • Non-COVID end-of-life care: Adult children, parents and adult siblings may visit 24/7.

This visitor policy may be adjusted for patient safety or compassionate reasons in a clinician’s judgment. As we continue to monitor the presence of COVID-19 in our community and adhere to state regulations, this policy is subject to change.
