Cancer care in St. Tammany is getting a new home
Cancer care in St. Tammany is getting a new home
State-of-the-art cancer center set to debut in summer 2021
COVINGTON, LA -- As a founding member of the St. Tammany Cancer Center, St. Tammany Health System has long been recognized as a leader in the fight against cancer on the Northshore. And now, its already robust suite of world-class cancer care offerings is growing.
In partnership with our strategic partners at Ochsner Health, St. Tammany Health System’s cancer care program – recognized as one of the nation’s best by Women’s Choice – is preparing to move in summer 2021 into a new, state-of-the-art cancer center building now rising near the intersection of Louisiana 21 and Interstate 12.
In addition to offering one of the most technologically advanced cancer programs in the region, the new $50 million facility will include 75,000 square feet of purpose-built space, enabling our highly trained team of oncologists, diagnosticians, surgeons and other cancer-care experts to expand even further their dedication to integrated cancer care, treating not just the tumor but the whole body.
For patients, that also means more space, more services, and more timely access to care and local access to advanced services.
In other words: more of the kind of support, care and St. Tammany-style compassion they need to transition from cancer patient to cancer survivor.
And best of all, it’s right here in Covington – which means Northshore residents can get some of the best cancer care available without ever leaving the place they love best: home.
Until the program relocates to the new cancer center, St. Tammany Health System, in collaboration with Ochsner Health and Mary Bird Perkins, will continue to provide comprehensive cancer services in the current main campus location.
