With blood inventories remaining at critically low levels, St. Tammany Health System is teaming with the Blood Center for three upcoming emergency blood drives.
Walk-ins are welcome at all three, but appointments are encouraged and can be made at The Blood Center website. See below for the dates, times and locations:
Wednesday, Dec. 15, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.: St. Tammany Health System’s Paul D. Cordes Outpatient Pavilion (16300 Bootlegger Road, Covington). Make an appointment.
Wednesday, Dec. 22, from 7 to 11 a.m.: St. Tammany Physicians Network – Mandeville (201 St. Anne St., Mandeville). Make an appointment.
Wednesday, Dec. 22, from 12:30 to 4 p.m.: STHS Mandeville Emergency Department (2929 U.S. 190, Mandeville). Make an appointment.
In addition to receiving a “Cajun Christmas” T-shirt, successful donors will be entered in a drawing for a PlayStation 5. (See rules here.)
At present, the local need for blood donations continues to outpace donations. All blood types are needed, but Type O, Rh Positive and Negative are in particularly short supply, Blood Center Medical Director Dr. Tim Peterson said in a recent advisory.
