STPH Employees Earn Fall Scholarships
STPH EMPLOYEES EARN FALL SCHOLARSHIPS
COVINGTON – Seven St. Tammany Parish Hospital employees have earned scholarships to continue their education. The scholarships, and their recipients, include:
DOROTHY L. BLOSSMAN NURSING SCHOLARSHIP
The St. Tammany Hospital Foundation has awarded the Fall 2014 Dorothy L. Blossman Nursing Scholarship to Jamie Romage.
Romage, a clinical information specialist with the hospital’s Information Systems department, received the scholarship to continue working on her master’s degree in nursing informatics at the University of South Alabama. She has been with St. Tammany Parish Hospital since 2000 and is scheduled to graduate in August.
“The Foundation is pleased to award the Dorothy L. Blossman scholarship for advanced studies in the nursing field to Jamie,” said Charley Strickland, executive director of the St. Tammany Hospital Foundation. “Since 2009, Blossman has awarded 11 scholarships to nurses at St. Tammany Parish Hospital."
GUILD SCHOLARSHIPS
The St. Tammany Hospital Guild has awarded its five Fall scholarships to the following St. Tammany Parish Hospital employees:
- Staci Jones RN, 4 South. Jones, who joined STPH in December 2004, is pursuing her bachelor’s degree in nursing from Southeastern Louisiana University.
- Jennifer Koch LPN, 2 North and 2 West. Koch, who started at STPH in January 2007, is pursuing her RN degree from Excelsior College.
- Lacylynn McGehee RN, Endoscopy. McGehee, who joined STPH in July 2006, is pursuing a bachelor’s degree in nursing from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette.
- Ginger Taylor, medical assistant and phlebotomist for the Cancer Center. Taylor joined STPH in September 1999 and is working toward her RN degree from Delgado Community College.
- Blake Warner LPN, ICU. Warner, who joined STPH in March 2001, is pursuing his RN degree from Excelsior College.
“The Guild faithfully and consistently donates to the hospital’s scholarship program and we’re very proud of this relationship,” said Chief Nursing Officer Kerry Milton, BSN MSHA. “We’re extremely proud of these employees for becoming engaged and wanting to further their education to better themselves and the care at St. Tammany Parish Hospital.”
MEDICAL STAFF SCHOLARSHIP
The St. Tammany Parish Hospital Medical Staff Committee has awarded its fall 2014 professional education scholarship to Rebekka Amick RN.
Amick, who joined STPH in November 2005, works in the hospital’s 4 South wing. She received the scholarship to work toward her clinical nurse specialist degree at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center School of Nursing.
The scholarship supports the hospital’s leadership role in assisting employees to further their education, training and careers at STPH.
