Guild Donates $45,000 to STH Foundation

Hospital Guild Donates $45,000 to STH Foundation

COVINGTON – The St. Tammany Hospital Guild donated $45,000 to St. Tammany Hospital Foundation as their annual donation in 2018.

“This donation will enable STPH to generate two non-traditional, yet extremely valuable, programs including a pediatric heART cart and music therapy program,” said Guild President, Ken Lane. “The STPH guild volunteers are grateful for the opportunity to continue to make a difference in the lives of the patients at St. Tammany Parish Hospital.”

The guild’s all-time giving is more than $264,000 including this gift, which elevates the guild to the Champion level of giving on the foundation’s donor wall of honor.  Since 2003, the guild has donated between $10,000 and $50,000 each year for different projects and improvements throughout St. Tammany Parish Hospital. This year the funds are designated for a music therapy program, two heART Carts for the pediatric unit and pediatric emergency department, and to refurbish rooms in the hospital. This donation was made from funds generated through the hospital gift shop. Throughout the year, the guild also raises funds through bake sales and jewelry sales to offer educational scholarships for hospital employees.

“Our guild members are true champions. The services they provide to the hospital aren’t done for compensation, they volunteer out of the goodness of their hearts,” said Nicole Suhre, executive director of the foundation. “Their gift of time is a most precious one and we are forever grateful for their time and the funds they raise for the hospital through the foundation.”

Anyone interested in volunteering for the hospital, Parenting Center or hospice should contact Volunteer Coordinator Shirley Primes at 985-898-4008.
