ST. TAMMANY PARISH HOSPITAL EARNS 3RD
HOSPITAL OF THE YEAR FOR RESPIRATORY CARE AWARD
COVINGTON - St. Tammany Parish Hospital has been awarded the 2015 Hospital of the Year Award for Respiratory Care by the Louisiana Society for Respiratory Care.
STPH received the recognition among hospitals with more than 200 beds for demonstrating, enhancing and promoting quality care with successful outcomes for the hospital and the community. The hospital has received this award three times: 2011, 2013 and 2015.
“STPH respiratory care practitioners work in partnership with our medical staff to assess and treat our cardio-pulmonary patients,” said Lisa Kinler RRT, head of respiratory services. “Our state society recognizes the difference this makes for patients, and we’re beyond proud to be honored by our peers throughout the state.”
The hospital’s respiratory care team of 43 professionals provides acute care therapy, pulmonary rehabilitation and sleep disorders support. Respiratory services and other STPH clinical disciplines participate in shared governance, involving team decision-making, diverse creative input and advancing STPH’s healthcare mission.
The hospital also serves as a clinical site for respiratory students from Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center’s Cardiopulmonary Science Program and Delgado Community College’s Respiratory Program to assist in growing the next generation of respiratory therapists. It also participates in the high school program, Health Career Track, allowing students to observe ancillary fields of medicine.
