COVINGTON – St. Tammany Health System’s flagship St. Tammany Parish Hospital is among the top-recommended hospitals in Louisiana, according to a state-by-state listing published Tuesday by Becker’s Hospital Review.
It is one of only 15 Louisiana facilities to make the list.
“We are always grateful to be recognized for our quality of care, but this one is particularly gratifying because it is based on recommendations from those whose opinions matter most: our patients,” St. Tammany Health System President and CEO Joan Coffman said.
“Patient satisfaction has long been a priority for our team of dedicated healthcare professionals,” Coffman continued, “and the inclusion of St. Tammany Parish Hospital on this list is a loud-and-clear message that they are making good on our promise of delivering world-class healthcare close to home for our Northshore friends and neighbors.”
The Becker’s list was formulated using Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems data, or HCAHPS, as collected by the federal Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services from October 2022 to September 2023 and released July 31.
Specifically, the publication’s top-recommended hospital list is based on patients’ response to the question, “Would you recommend this hospital to your friends and family?” Hospitals must have had at least 100 completed HCAHPS surveys in a four-quarter period to be eligible for inclusion.
Those hospitals receiving a five-star rating were included on the Becker’s list, which covers all 50 U.S. states.
