Orthopedics Earns Women's Choice Award

STPH EARNS WOMEN’S CHOICE AWARD AS ONE OF AMERICA’S
BEST HOSPITALS FOR ORTHOPEDICS FOR 2ND YEAR

COVINGTON - According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 719,000 total knee replacements and 332,000 total hip replacements were performed in 2010. In 2014, The National Osteoporosis Foundation reported that a woman’s risk of hip fracture is equal to her combined risk of breast, uterine and ovarian cancer. The Women’s Choice Award identifies America’s Best Hospitals in Orthopedics to address the growing need for bone and joint care, and disease prevention.

St. Tammany Parish Hospital has received the 2015 Women’s Choice Award® as one of America’s Best Hospital’s for Orthopedics, providing exceptional patient care and treatment. By carrying the Women’s Choice Award seal, STPH has joined an elite network of hospitals committed to a global mission to empower women, serving as an example to all hospitals while setting new standards of healthcare excellence for women, their families, and their community. STPH also earned the award in 2014.

“It means the world to us to learn that our orthopedics’ hard work and dedication has been recognized both locally and nationally by Women’s Choice Award for a second year,” said STPH President and CEO Patti Ellish. “Our orthopedics team strives to deliver world-class healthcare close to home, and we’re honored that our community recognizes that effort.”

Hospitals qualify as an America’s Best Hospital for Orthopedics based on an in-depth proprietary scoring process, utilizing data reported by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. STPH was selected as one of America’s Best Hospitals for Orthopedics because of its excellent rating in areas such as post-treatment complications, patient recommendation ratings, availability of microscopic surgery and adequate post-surgical care.

“A woman expects more from a hospital experience and takes her role as the primary healthcare decision maker seriously,” said Delia Passi, founder and CEO of the Women’s Choice Award. “More than ever she is self-managing her care by choosing her hospital prior to selecting her doctors. This allows her more control over her hospital stay outcome based on the quality of care she can expect from a Women’s Choice Award hospital.”

About The Women’s Choice Award®
The Women’s Choice Award sets the standard for helping women make smarter choices by collectively identifying the brands, products, and services most recommended and trusted by women - those that deliver a customer experience worthy of their recommendation. Awards are based on surveys of thousands of women, as well as research conducted in partnership with the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania on what drives the consumer experience for women versus men. As the leading advocate for female consumers, WomenCertified Inc., home of the Women’s Choice Award, created the first national award based on the ratings and preferences of women to provide them with a collective voice. Women can make their preferences heard and be part of the mission toward a million voices strong by visiting the Women’s Choice Award’s official website and joining the network.
