COVINGTON – For the 16th consecutive grading period, St. Tammany Health System has received an “A” grade for patient safety for fall 2023 from the Leapfrog Group, an independent healthcare watchdog organization.
No other Louisiana health system has received as many consecutive A’s.
“Earning an ‘A’ Grade means St. Tammany Health System has made a true commitment to put patients first,” said Leah Binder, president and CEO of The Leapfrog Group. “We congratulate the leadership, Board, clinicians, staff and volunteers that all had a role to play in this achievement.”
Introduced in 2012, the Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grades assign letter grades of A, B, C, D and F twice a year to hospitals across the country. Those grades are based on their performance in preventing medical errors, infections and other harms.
Developed under the guidance of a national panel of experts, the Leapfrog letter grade program uses up to 22 evidence-based measures of patient safety to assign grades to more than 3,000 U.S. acute-care hospitals.
The Leapfrog grading system is peer-reviewed, fully transparent and free to the public.
