The doctor is in, Madisonville.

After three years of functioning as a pediatrics practice, St. Tammany Health System’s Madisonville clinic at 1520 Highway 22 is transitioning back to a full-family primary care practice.

Dr. Catherine Pechon – a board-certified family medicine practitioner with interests in preventative healthcare and wellness, women’s health, and weight management – joined STHS in July and, operating out of the Madisonville clinic under the St. Tammany Physicians Network banner, is now accepting new patients.

Described by Dr. Pechon as a “one-stop shop” for family medicine, the Madisonville clinic’s new family-care practice is equipped to see patients as young as 2, as well as their older siblings, parents and grandparents.

“That’s the thing that drew me to family medicine: the relationships you develop, seeing different generations of the same family,” she said. “That’s absolutely one of the things about family medicine that’s unique in a way. You build relationships. We see kids grow up and maybe see their kids when they start their own families.”

Prospective patients can call 985-898-4001 to arrange an appointment.

Dr. Pechon isn’t the only STHS physician on the move. As she takes up residence at the Madisonville clinic, St. Tammany Health System’s pediatrics practice – including Dr. Jennifer Miles, Dr. Linda Keefer, Dr. Rob Faucheux, Dr. Margie Strong and nurse practitioner Perry Russell – will be relocating in the next few weeks to the former Covington Clinic building at 71338 Highway 21 in Covington.

Not only will the new pediatrics space be much larger – allowing for additional on-site services for patients – but it is just about a mile south of the health system’s Covington hospital and its wealth of resources.

“So we’ll be closer to the hospital, have a bigger office and, because we’re roomier now, have more services,” said Dr. Faucheux, the chairman of the STHS Department of Pediatrics.

The move of the pediatrics practice from Madisonville to Covington is expected to be complete by mid-September.
