STPH Earns Seven 2018 Women's Choice Awards

St. Tammany Parish Hospital Receives Seven 2018 Women’s Choice Awards

Awards include Patient Safety and Breast Center

COVINGTON – St. Tammany Parish Hospital has been named one of America’s Best Hospitals for Patient Safety, Heart Care, Stroke Centers, Cancer Care, Obstetrics, Breast Centers and Orthopedics.

“We are honored to receive multiple Women’s Choice awards each year,” said Patti Ellish, St. Tammany Parish Hospital president and CEO. “We strive every day to meet our mission of world-class healthcare close to home, and we are pleased that women are recognizing those efforts.”

According to Women’s Choice, women influence 90 percent of family healthcare decisions, and Women’s Choice has a specific methodology to determine the hospitals that qualify for America’s Best in each category. Women’s Choice uses the most recent publicly available information from The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) and accreditation information from appropriate sources to determine those chosen for America’s Best. In its seven awarded categories, STPH ranges between top 8 percent and 17 percent in the nation.

The methodology for Women’s Best Hospitals for Patient Safety is unique in that it evaluates 11 Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services’ (CMS) measures of infections and complications, Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (HCAHPS) survey results along with primary research about women’s healthcare preferences.

St. Tammany Parish Hospital has earned multiple Women’s Choice Awards since 2014, including America’s 100 Best Hospitals. To see all of St. Tammany Parish Hospital’s awards and accreditations, go to stph.org/awards.
