This Saturday (Sept. 25, 2021) is National Seat Check Saturday, and the STHS Parenting Center is encouraging local parents to mark the occasion by making sure their child’s car seat is properly installed.
To that end, a free seat-check event is scheduled for 9 a.m. to noon this Saturday at LeBlanc Pediatrics, 319 S. Tyler St., in Covington.
Complimentary car seat checks are also performed year-round by appointment at the STHS Parenting Center, 1505 N. Florida St., Ste. B, in Covington.
It is estimated that 96% of all child restraints are incorrectly applied, leading to the injury of a child under 13 nearly every 33 seconds in car accidents, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
National Seat Check Saturday is an annual observation serving as the culmination of Child Passenger Safety Week, which is held every September.
