Due to expected severe weather in our area this afternoon and evening (Wednesday, March 30, 2022), all St. Tammany Health System clinics will close at 3 p.m. today. All are expected to resume normal business hours Thursday.
All outpatient areas, including the Cordes Outpatient Pavilion, will observe normal operating hours. Additionally, the health system’s hospital emergency room in Covington and its standalone emergency room in Mandeville will remain open 24/7.
According to the National Weather Service, a line of potentially severe weather is expected to move across the Northshore at about 5 p.m. Wednesday. It is expected to bring thunderstorms accompanied by wind gusts as high as 70 mph. Tornados and hail are also possible.
A wind advisory is in effect on the Northshore until 9 p.m., with the highest risk for severe weather along and north of the Interstate 12 corridor. According to NOLA.com, winds associated with the storm have the potential to knock out powerlines and damage trees before the severe storms arrive.
Motorists are advised to use extra caution, especially while driving on bridges and elevated roads.
