If you’re a parent whose child has started driving, you know just how stressful a time it can be when they’re still learning the rules of the road – and the immense responsibility that comes with it.
That’s why St. Tammany Health System and Louisiana State Police are once more teaming up for Sudden Impact, a free, daylong informational session geared toward young drivers.
This year, two sessions will be held, both in the Madisonville Room at St. Tammany Health System’s flagship St. Tammany Parish Hospital, 1202 S. Tyler St., Covington. The dates and times are:
- Friday, June 21, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
- Friday, July 26, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
Over the course of the day, participants will learn about the consequences of driving impaired, distracted and unrestrained. That will include witness demonstrations and testimonials about traumatic car crashes from three perspectives: that of the crash survivor, of law enforcement and of medical staff.
Interested? Parents can register their child by emailing RN Alex Martinez at aamartinez@stph.org. For more information, call (504) 390-1286.
