COVINGTON – Women’s Choice Award has once again ranked St. Tammany Health System among the Best Hospitals in America, placing it in the top 10% in 10 distinct specialty areas for 2024, including in the top 6% for patient safety.

The other areas in which STHS was held up for distinction, along with national rank, are:

  • Cancer Care (top 1% in the country).
  • Obstetrics (top 1% in the country).
  • Mammogram Imaging (top 1% in the country).
  • Women’s Services (top 2% in the country).
  • Minimally Invasive Surgery (top 4% in the country).
  • Stroke Care (top 4% in the country).
  • Heart Care (top 5% in the country).
  • Comprehensive Breast Care (top 7% in the country).
  • Emergency Care (top 10% in the country).

Women’s Choice bestows its best hospital designations based on a hospital’s outstanding achievement in clinical excellence and patient experience and satisfaction.

“Not all hospitals can say they are the safest in the country, and by identifying those who are, the Women’s Choice Award is helping the female consumer identify the hospitals in her community that are dedicated to creating the safest patient experience,” said Delia Passi, founder and CEO of the Women’s Choice Award.

The methodology used to select St. Tammany Health System as one of the Best Hospitals for Patient Safety is unique in that it evaluates 13 Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services’ (CMS) measures of infections and complications, Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (HCAHPS) survey results along with primary research about women’s healthcare preferences. It is the only award recognizing excellence in patient safety based on robust criteria that consider patient satisfaction and clinical excellence.

“The recipients of the Best Hospitals for Patient Safety award have led the country by implementing safe practices that have ultimately saved lives,” Passi said.  “This recognition is critical for women as they make over 80% of healthcare decisions and need to know they are putting themselves – and their family members – in the safest hands.”

St. Tammany Health System is one of 510 award recipients representing the hospitals that have met the highest standards for patient safety in the U.S. by the Women’s Choice Award.
