Things came up roses this month for the St. Tammany Health System Grounds team.
And azaleas and magnolias and gardenias and vincas and petunias …
The Covington Garden Club recently honored the work of the health system’s six-person Grounds crew by bestowing Garden of the Month honors on it for May 2021.
As part of the recognition, the hospital earns the right to display the club’s Garden of the Month sign, which was unveiled at a brief ceremony Wednesday morning (April 28) at the well-manicured flagpole garden near the hospital’s main entrance.
“When you think of all the places, all the houses, all the facilities in our community, this is a big honor for St. Tammany Health System,” Director of Plant Operations Richard Gallaher said. “I can’t think of a more hard-working crew.”
This marks the fourth time the hospital has won the honor in the 17 years Grounds Supervisor Robin Percle has been a member of the STHS team.
“It’s such a treat,” Percle said Wednesday.
