Two months after its arrival, the tires have been kicked, the kinks have been ironed out and St. Tammany Health System’s Be Well Bus is ready to hit the road on its Mammo Tour 2021, bringing health screening opportunities to Abita Springs, Bogalusa, Folsom, Franklinton and Madisonville.
A custom, 40-foot motorcoach outfitted with two private exam rooms and all manner of screening equipment, the bus is designed to make routine preventative healthcare procedures more convenient for patients by bringing them directly into local communities.
In coming weeks, it will be stationed at medical clinics in Madisonville, Folsom, Franklinton and Bogalusa in an effort to provide convenient access to mammograms for patients living in those areas. In addition, it will participate in the free Healthier Northshore community health fair in Abita Springs on Sunday, Aug. 1.

Please note: Mammograms are by appointment only. Patients wishing to schedule a screening mammogram on the Be Well Bus should call (985) 773-1500 to make an appointment.
To be eligible, most insurance plans require that a patient:
- Be 40 or older
- Has not received a mammogram in the past year.
- Is not pregnant or breastfeeding.
- Has no breast issues such as a lump or discharge from the nipple area.
