As more and more places require proof of COVID-19 vaccination before allowing patrons to enter – and with others likely joining them soon -- many people are left to wonder: Am I really supposed to carry my vaccination card around with me at all times?
Well, you could. But there’s another way.
The state’s LA Wallet mobile app, which since summer 2018 has provided users with access to a legal digital copy of their state-issued driver’s license via their mobile phone, now does the same for vaccination cards.
To enable it:
-- If you haven’t already, download the app (available for both iPhone and Android devices) and link it to your valid state-issued ID.
-- Once your ID is linked, click the “COVID-19” tab in the menu at the bottom of the screen.
-- Agree to the pop-up disclaimer, then click “Retrieve SMART Health Card.”
If you’ve been vaccinated and the agency or organization that administered the vaccine has reported it to the state – which it is required to do – your proof of vaccination should show up.
(Note: If the vaccine record on file doesn’t match your name, date of birth and ZIP code as it appears on your driver’s license, the app won’t be able to link to your vaccine card. Click here for what to do in that case.)
