Sgt. Frank Caldwell, a 14-year St. Tammany Health System veteran and an encyclopedia of information who was described as a walking Google Map among the health system’s Security Department, has hung up his shield.

Sgt. Caldwell’s last day was Thursday, Dec. 31, 2020, and was marked with a small, socially distanced gathering of his superiors and co-workers at the Fat Spoon Café in Covington.

Sgt. Caldwell started his STHS career in Patient Transport before signing on with Security, where he made a name for himself as an eager, loyal and dependable team player.

“To use old-school terminology, he was ‘a real stand-up guy,’” said Director of Security Kenny Norris, who went on to describe Caldwell as “a man of true grit, character, honor and integrity.”

“A busy bee, he was always eager to assist, lend a hand and help his fellow workers and medical staff,” Norris added. “Frank made this his home away from home, tending to the needs of the house, putting things in order and securing the palace, if you will. He received numerous ‘Caught in the Acts,’ ‘Thank You grams’ and various verbal recognitions throughout his STHS career. He will be missed but not forgotten.”
