With COVID-19 infection rates remaining at manageable levels, St. Tammany Health System has announced changes to its COVID testing requirements for pre-op and admission to the hospital.

The new testing requirements, which are all effective Monday (Oct. 18), are as follows:

  • Pre-procedure testing and pre-admit testing is not required on fully vaccinated, asymptomatic patients. To be considered fully vaccinated, a patient must provide one of the following:
    • Proof of having received two doses of the Pfizer/BioNTech or Moderna COVID-19 vaccine, with at least two weeks having passed since receipt of the last dose.
    • Proof of having received one dose of Johnson & Johnson’s COVID-19 vaccine, with at least two having passed since receipt of the vaccination.
  • Unvaccinated patients and those with no history of COVID-19 or a previous positive result in the past 90 days will require a COVID test within 72 hours of the procedure or intervention.
  • Unvaccinated patients and those with no history of COVID-19 or a previous positive result in the past 90 days ago will require a COVID test on day of admission.
  • Previous COVID-positive patients being admitted or readmitted with ongoing symptoms that are less than or equal to 20 days from initial positive test result do not require a retest and will be placed in COVID isolation.

Continue to monitor StTammany.health for additional changes to COVID policies as they are announced.
