70 for 70: The secret ingredient

Seven decades after its founding, the secret behind St. Tammany Health System’s success and longevity really isn’t that secret.

“When I think back to what has been fundamental to the success of the organization throughout the tremendous change that has occurred over the last 66 years, it’s the people,” health system President and CEO Joan Coffman said. “We really are a community hospital. This hospital has become intertwined into the very fabric of this community. We’re neighbors with many of our patients and their families – or they’re our colleagues.”

That’s why, in addition to being a great place to receive world-class healthcare, St. Tammany Health System has long been a great place to work, built on what leadership has dubbed its Culture of Caring.

It’s also why it has earned CityBusiness’ coveted Best Places to Work in New Orleans honors for three consecutive years – and counting.

And that brings us to what is easily the most photo-heavy and arguably the most smile-inducing installment in our 70 for 70 series yet.

Installment No. 64: The secret ingredient

Today’s artifacts: A collection of 70 photos – go ahead; count ‘em! – from the St. Tammany Health System archives, arranged chronologically (more or less) and celebrating some of the thousands of colleagues who have worked at all levels of the health system over the decades.

Why they are significant: It’s simple. St. Tammany Health System would not be St. Tammany Health System without the team of dedicated healthcare professionals who started it and who have continued to build it over the years.

They are St. Tammany Health System, every bit as much as the bricks-and-mortar facilities in which they work are.

Rather than wax on about them (which, honestly, we could do for days) we’ll just let their smiling faces speak for themselves. Scroll down to see them -- and enjoy!

Do you have a St. Tammany Parish Hospital story or item to share? We’d love to hear about it! Email us at CommDept@stph.org.
