Due to a change in CDC recommendations, St. Tammany Health System is now accepting homemade mask donations for use during the current COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic.
While the health system cannot use homemade masks while caring for patients, we gratefully accept your thoughtful gifts that staff can wear to and from work. The best recommended material is tightly woven fabric and elastic.
Donated masks can be brought to the main entrance of the main hospital campus in Covington, 1202 S. Tyler St., Covington. Donors can also call 985-871-5897 to arrange a pickup.
Donors will receive an in-kind donation form for their gift.
STHS infectious disease specialists stress that wearing such masks can create a false sense of security, so when you wear a mask, remember to think about what you touch, conduct proper handwashing, and don’t touch your mask or eyes.
The STHS Materials Management team continues to source and purchase personal protective equipment for health system colleagues, including approved masks. While normal supply chains have been disrupted by the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic, St. Tammany Health System is currently supplied and prepared for our community’s needs.
