With the Blood Center facing a critical shortage of inventory, St. Tammany Health System will host a blood drive from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. next Tuesday (June 2) near the main entrance to its hospital campus in Covington.
Two buses will be on-hand to help accommodate donors while adhering to social distancing guidelines.
Appointments aren’t necessary but are encouraged. They can be made online at www.tbcdonors.org/donor/schedules/drive_schedule/40873.
Prospective donors can also save time by answering the requisite health questionnaire before they arrive. It can be found online at www.thebloodcenter.org/fastlane and should be filled out on the same day as the planned donation.
Those who can’t attend the STHS blood drive can still make an appointment to donate at Blood Center locations in Mandeville, Hammond, Slidell, Metairie, Harvey and Thibodaux. Visit TheBloodCenter.org for addresses, hours of operation and phone numbers.
Those with allergy or cold-like symptoms are asked to postpone donation attempts until all symptoms have passed. This request, in response to FDA recommendations, is being made out of an abundance of caution during the COVID-19 outbreak.
