The city of Covington celebrated Juneteenth on Friday (June 19) with a parade and festival at Peter Atkins Park, and representatives of St. Tammany Health System were on-hand to help mark the occasion by shining a spotlight on community health efforts.
STHS colleagues Anne Pablovich, Erin Strain, Lori Chopin, Lori Cage and Barbara Strain were among the 250 estimated attendees at the post-parade festival, distributing STHS goodie bags, homemade cloth masks and information about such programs as the START Community Health Center, St. Tammany Cancer Center, St. Tammany Quality Network and the Parenting Center.
“My personal highlight of the event: An attendee came to our table and said, ‘My mother is 75 and cancer-free thanks to y’all. Thanks for taking care of her!,’” according to Pablovich, a community health coordinator for STQN.
