Monday (June 14) is National Blood Donor Day, and St. Tammany Health System is doing its part by hosting a blood drive that day in the conference center in its newly constructed South Tower.
The drive will be from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Mandeville/Covington Rooms. Walk-ins are welcome, although appointments are encouraged and can be made at the Blood Center website.
Donors must be at least 110 pounds and 17 years old or older. Those who successfully donate will receive a “Friends”-inspired blood donation T-shirt.
According to America’s Blood Centers and the American Red Cross, blood donation centers nationwide have reported declines in collections in recent weeks, with some reporting their lowest donor turnout in more than a year.
