St. Tammany Health System is hiring, and its Human Resources team is taking that message to the streets. Literally.
Recently, the Covington-based health system had its courier vans wrapped with its “Called to Care” slogan and a message inviting anyone in the community to apply for any number of open positions. They include everything from food service positions to environmental services to nursing and other clinical roles.
“We’ve long been the healthcare employer of choice on the Northshore, and now, with our recent Best Workplaces award from CityBusiness, we want everyone to know it,” said Amy Gowland, STHS’s director of Human Resources, in showing off the vans.
Because the health system’s couriers essentially blanket western St. Tammany Parish every day as they travel back and forth between STHS’s two-dozen-plus facilities, Gowland said it made sense to press them into service essentially as motorized billboards.
Thanks to financial support from St. Tammany Hospital Foundation and its donors, the project was given a green-light.
In addition to appealing to prospective new colleagues, the vans – which also prominently feature the health system’s familiar embracing-hearts logo and its official burgundy berry color – do double duty, raising brand awareness in the community.
The vans’ new look coincides with an HR initiative at STHS to hire 31 people in the 31 days of March. So far, Gowland said, things are looking good – thanks at least in part to the vans.
“We’re revved up, we’re in gear and we’re in hiring mode,” she said. “Like the side of the vans say: ‘Apply today.’”
