Christmas came a little early this year for families of patients at St. Tammany Cancer Center, a campus of Ochsner Medical Center.

On Wednesday, Dec. 15, employees of St. Tammany Health System and Ochsner Health System went into full elf mode, distributing bundles of Christmas cheer to families of cancer patients, donated by the nonprofit Ruby’s Kids.

In all, some 45 children from 18 local families had their holidays brightened with special gifts.

Then, on Dec. 20, 21 and 22, the Cancer Center team was at it again, distributing Christmas food boxes curated by the dietitians in the center’s Therapeutic Food Pantry to 80 patients in need.

Both were true community events, made possible with help from an exhaustive list of helpful volunteers, businesses, restaurants, faith groups and philanthropic donors.

Check out photos from the events below.

Thanks to all who participated – and merry Christmas!

Also in attendance: the Grinch – who we’re told was on his best behavior.
