Once upon a time, the No. 1 cancer killer among women was cervical cancer. Thankfully, with the advent of the Pap smear as a screening tool, that has changed – and St. Tammany Health System is determined to keep it that way.
With the arrival of Cervical Health Awareness Month in January, St. Tammany Health System Community Outreach Coordinator Anne Pablovich recently visited The Lake 94.7 studios in Covington to discuss the importance of early detection, which has been proven to save lives.
Pablovich also discussed a new program, running all month long and funded by St. Tammany Hospital Foundation, through which uninsured women can get a free Pap smear from Dr. Marissa Moore of the St. Tammany Physician Network in Mandeville, Dr. Catherine Pechon at the STPN clinic in Madisonville or Dr. Victoria Blossom at the STPN Folsom clinic.
