The federal Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) has updated its Overall Hospital Quality Star Ratings for 2023, and St. Tammany Health System’s flagship St. Tammany Parish Hospital is among those institutions receiving the maximum five stars.
CMS assigns star ratings to U.S. hospitals annually based on 46 hospital quality measures. These are divided into five quality categories: safety of care, mortality, patient experience, readmission rates, and timely and effective care.
Visit Becker’s Hospital Review for a full, state-by-state list of five-star hospitals in America. You can also learn more about the CMS rating system at www.Medicare.org.
Data reporting periods range from July 2018 to March 2022, depending on the measure.
