COVINGTON - The American Medical Association voted in June to officially recognize obesity as a disease, drawing a clear distinction between what has long been regarded as a consequence of lifestyle and a medical illness. Did you know obesity affects one in three Americans?
What many people do not know is that obesity eventually can lead to other chronic illnesses/medical conditions such as diabetes, high cholesterol and high blood pressure. The Center for Disease Control and Prevention also forecasts that 50 million Americans will have diabetes by 2050.
