COVINGTON, La. – St. Tammany Health System, in partnership with Healthier Northshore, has announced “Eat Well, Live Well,” a series of free cooking demonstrations from local chefs designed to showcase healthy and delicious dishes incorporating locally grown produce.
The first installment, scheduled for Sept. 19, will be led by Chef David Solazzo of Del Porto Ristorante in Covington, who will prepare Ratatouille with Gulf Shrimp. Future demonstrations will be held quarterly.
All attendees will receive a box of ingredients to re-create the featured meal at home, courtesy of the American Heart Association, an “Eat Well, Live Well” sponsor, through its Go Red initiative.
“Supporting initiatives like Healthier Northshore and their ‘Eat Well, Live Well’ series is something I am thrilled to do through this year’s Go Red for Women Campaign,” Go Red member Amy Brumfield said. “Funding local programs that will help those in most need in our community is something I am passionate about, and I am thankful to have the opportunity to do so. Sustainable nutritional security programs are key to teaching people how important fueling our bodies can be to our long-term health and wellness.”
