Seven St. Tammany Health System employees received a total of $11,500 in scholarships this month from the St. Tammany Hospital Guild and the Health System’s Medical Staff Committee.

The guild, an all-volunteer organization that raises money for the hospital through various means – including operation of the hospital’s gift shop – awarded five fall 2022 scholarships to health system employees pursing education to further their medical careers. Each of the guild scholarships are worth $1,500.

The five recipients for fall 2022 are:

  • Alexis Blake, an LPN unit assistant on the Oncology Medicine team and a four-year veteran of St. Tammany Health System.
  • Danielle Edwards, a Utilization Management manager and a member of the STHS team since July 2010.
  • Ryan Sharpe, a registered nurse in the Pediatric Emergency Department who has been with STHS since June 2021.
  • Heather Toohey, a licensed practical nurse working in the New Family Center and an STHS team member since 2020.
  • Emily Uhl, an LPN with the health system’s Northlake Pulmonary practice who has been with STHS since March 2020.

Additionally, the Medical Staff Committee awarded its fall 2022 Nursing Scholarships, worth $2,000 each, to:

  • Monica Briggs, an RN supervisor in the health system’s main campus Emergency Department who has been with STHS since 2011.
  • Melanie Rudiger, a surgical tech who has been with the health system since 2018.

Congratulations to all!
