As COVID-19 concerns continue, U.S. Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin announced via Twitter on Friday morning (March 20) that the deadline for filing federal income tax returns for the tax year 2019 has been delayed three months, moving from April 15 to July 15, 2020.

“All taxpayers and businesses will have this additional time to file and make payments without interest or penalties,” Mnuchin wrote.

He added that taxpayers expecting a tax refund should “file now to get your money.”
