It’s the Northshore vs. the south shore this April in a friendly competition to see which side of the lake is more generous when it comes to blood donations.
In addition to helping alleviate blood shortages currently impacting the region, the contest – organized by The Blood Center – will pay tribute to local hospital lab workers.
Here's how it works:
Donors who give blood at any Blood Center donor center between April 24 and 30 – which is Laboratory Professionals Week – should specify on a special signup sheet which hospital’s lab team they’re supporting.
Representing the Northshore are St. Tammany Health System and Slidell Memorial Hospital. Representing the south shore are Lakeside Hospital and West Jefferson Medical Center.
Additionally, donors can declare their allegiance at any of the following specially designated blood drives:
At the end of the week, the team with the highest donor turnout will earn special recognition from The Blood Center.
