Former New Orleans Saints wideout and special teamer Rich Mauti hasn’t played professional football in nearly three decades, but he’s still a team player when it comes to cancer care.
On Friday (Aug. 13), Mauti presented St. Tammany Health System and St. Tammany Hospital Foundation leadership with a check for $6,250 from the Rich Mauti Tennis Classic, an annual event to benefit cancer care on the Northshore.
The donation was made through the Mauti Cancer Fund, which Mauti founded in 1981 to raise money for cancer research, education and screenings. In the past four years, it has raised more than $3.5 million to impact cancer care for patients in Louisiana.
This year's gift will go to support St. Tammany Health System’s Be Well Bus, a 40-foot mobile community health unit designed to bring preventative health measures including screenings and vaccinations to local fairs, festivals, employee-sponsored gatherings and more.
