Merrill Laurent MD Joins STPH Board of Commissioners
ST. TAMMANY PARISH HOSPITAL BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS
WELCOMES MERRILL LAURENT MD
COVINGTON – St. Tammany Parish Hospital Service District No. 1 Board of Commissioners welcomes Merrill Laurent MD as its newest member. Dr. Laurent was voted as the board’s medical representative by the active medical staff at STPH.
“We are pleased to welcome Dr. Laurent to our Board of Commissioners,” said Chairman John Evans. “We look forward to having his perspective and representation of the medical staff on our governance board.”
Merrill J. Laurent MD is a primary care physician and founding partner at IMG Physicians, LLC in Covington. He graduated from LSU School of Medicine in New Orleans. He also completed an Internal Medicine and Pediatrics residency at LSU and served as Chief Resident. Dr. Laurent is an active member of the St. Tammany Quality Network and has been since its inception in 2014. He earned an award for excellence in population management from STQN for 2016 and 2017.
Dr. Laurent has been a physician in both a hospital and outpatient setting for more than 20 years. He is member of multiple professional organizations, including the Louisiana State Medical Society and the St. Tammany Parish Medical Society, and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics and the American College of Physicians. He also served in the Louisiana Army National Guard as a Captain in the Medical Corps.
