MRI Equipment Earns Reaccreditation

MRI EQUIPMENT EARNS REACCREDITATION

COVINGTON
– The Paul D. Cordes Outpatient Pavilion at St. Tammany Parish Hospital has received a three-year reaccreditation for its magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) equipment after a recent review by the American College of Radiology.

“STPH is pleased to have received this special designation from the ACR, as it represents our dedication to maintaining high practice standards in image quality, personnel qualifications, facility equipment, quality control procedures and quality assurance programs,” said Sharon Toups, FACHE, senior vice president and chief operating officer. “In addition, STPH certified and experienced technologists are committed to our mission to create an environment where the patient knows they are receiving the best care possible.”

The hospital and its two diagnostic centers received full accreditation for its nuclear medicine, MRI and CT equipment in 2013.

ACR accreditation represents the highest level of image quality and patient safety. It is awarded only to facilities meeting ACR practice guidelines and technical standards after a peer-review evaluation by board-certified physicians and medical physicists who are experts in the field.

Image quality, personnel qualifications, adequacy of facility equipment, quality control procedures, and quality assurance programs are assessed. The findings are reported to the ACR Committee on Accreditation, which subsequently provides the practice with a comprehensive report they can use for continuous practice improvement.
